You used to be absolutely obsessed with your appearance. In general, this wasn’t really a problem. You see, you had plenty of free time, and would make sure to get up early enough to get ready for work. You would look great every day, and it made you feel great. Unfortunately, it was a problem when you traveled.

You see, the same clothes that might make you look stunning at home make terrible travel clothing. Travel apparel demands certain sacrifices for those of us who are more formal. For example, if you insist on dressing up every day, it can make things rather difficult. Unless you use wrinkle free travel clothes, you have to pack an iron. Your clothing, no matter how carefully packet, will get wrinkled. You might also have to take it travel garment bag with you to keep things from getting too messed up.

More to the point, insisting on dressing well all the time means that you have to bring more clothing for travel than you would otherwise. A casual dresser only has to bring enough outfits to have a new one for each day of the trip, or at least every other day. If you are a snappy dresser, however, you’ll need to get two sets of travel clothing: your formal one, and a relaxed one for outdoor activities.

When you was planning your first extended trip to Europe, you decided that enough was enough. This time, you resolved you would be more practical with your travel clothing. You brought one nice outfit in case you wanted to go to a fancy restaurant, but the rest was casual. You have never had such a relaxing vacation before! You packed good outdoor clothing – comfortable, durable, and compact. Rather than your usual three pieces of luggage, you only had to take one! Although you admit that you missed your nice clothes on the trip from time to time, in general you was happy without them. It was certainly worth the increased convenience.

Of course, once you switched to good travel clothing, you had to go a step further. As silly as your expensive clothes were, your fancy luggage was even more ridiculous. You bought myself a hiking backpack to take on all your trips in the future. You don’t know why more people don’t use them – they are so much more convenient than suitcases. It is liberating to finally understand how to make traveling easy for yourself.

When you bust your butt (well, some people) working hard throughout the year, always going, never stopping, ensuring a smooth family vacation is something that you MUST have. Otherwise you will be excited to go back to work just to get a break.

Although the summer vacation time is coming to an end, family travel and the holidays are right around the corner and planning those vacations now along with spring breaks are always a smart way to go.

Therefore, we have listed Discount Florida Vacation’s top family travel tips and how to make sure your vacation is memorable, not disastrous.

We know all families differ in size, age, and such so these will be generalized and common sense tips anyone can use.

**Start planning early and make sure you use lists. If this is mom reading, then you know how important this tip is. This will also help you do things in stages, make sure you have everything, and you aren’t pulling your hair out just for vacation.

**Be sure you have tools to keep everyone happy. Airports have long lines and delays and driving can be wearing on any of us. Toys, games, videos, music, books, magazines, ipods, etc…

**Know your destination well. Are you taking small children to a place like Vegas where you plan on gambling the whole time? That personally doesn’t make much sense to me even though there’s a lot to do. Be sure there are things to do so that everyone enjoys each experience.

**Travel with all the latest gear. Update your luggage, be sure everything is in a safe, secure place, invest in a GPS unit (this will save you tons of time and headaches), and so forth. Traveling will be a lot more fun if it’s easy and you understand where you are heading.

**Take care of your home before you go. Items such as mail, pets (if they don’t go), a trusted person to watch for things, and more can help you relax without worrying about what’s going on miles and miles away.

**Don’t and I repeat, don’t take your work with you. This is time to enjoy family and quality time together. Personally, the only reason I go to work is for my family and to take care of them. The last thing I want to do on vacation (especially since you usually get paid), is work.

**Be safe. This is a no brainer, but we all know that bad things happen to good people. The more well-prepared you are, the better your vacation will be.

**Finally, have fun. Our biggest of the family travel tips is to have fun throughout the whole process. Get everyone involved. Get excited. There is nothing like vacation time and to make it memorable means enjoying yourselves!
