5 Types of Camping Trips – Family Bonding and Benefits
♫ Wednesday, April 21st, 2010There are few things that keep families together more, than a camping trip. We all have bonding needs and this is even more so with children and their parents. Boys should have a special relationship with their fathers as girls should with their mothers. It is all part of the educational process which includes their emotional development.
Fathers are role models to their boys and mothers are role models for their girls. Hopefully they will be positive role models although unfortunately this is not always the case. I have no idea how this fits in with same sex parents, though I have my doubts.
A camping trip will provide great opportunities for this bonding to take place. It will provide a continuous source of experiences that allow for sharing, for teaching skills, for conversation.
Sometimes, specially if you have not practiced camping expeditions in a while, you may it difficult to come up with a camping trip idea that is both practical and feasible,so here a 5 types of trips you can enjoy.
1. Hiking. This can be a one day hiking trip you can enjoy with the family. It is very easy to find hiking trails near you that are simple and even graded on their difficulty, which is something you have to take into account depending on the ages and, possibly, your fitness levels. These are safe, enjoyable and allow you to enjoy a day out with your family and kids.
2. Fishing trip. This can be for a single day or longer type of expedition. Being out in the country is great; being out in the country and fishing is even greater.
3. RV camping trip. You can travel longer distances and have many alternatives in camping sites and at the same time have many of the amenities you would have at home – with just the right spark of adventure. These are great for longer camping trips and are not only a fine way of sharing your time with your family but they always build up marvelous memories to share. Just remember that memories are one of those intangible things that can bring back great moments of our childhood – and that is legacy anyone will be happy to have.
4. Backpacking trips. This is an exciting way of exploring nature and specially as it a great alternative to being vehicle and electronic device dependent as many children are today. The act of walking is a healthy activity but when you join this with a walk with members of your family or a group of friends, with the time to look around and admire nature, then you have really understood what it is all about – that look in the eyes of your children or spouse.
5. Tent camping. The best alternative. There are many camping sites that cater for tent camping, where you can be in a natural environment safely. These sites have special nature areas for children. You also have the added advantage that these trips are much less expensive than others. You will benefit by spending quality time with your family, and last but not least, you will get away from the influence of television and many electronic games (all if you somehow disappear the hand held ones).
